PT. SEPATU MAS IDAMAN (SEMASI) in the mid 1980’s, the Indonesian government and the private sector realized that the country’s oil and gas resources would soon enough be depleted. The Gunung Sewu Group’s response was the timely diversification of it’s businesses to light industrial, manufacturing, including shoes. This company has been established since 1987.

Semasi manufactures high quality male and female dress, casual and golf shoes mainly catering to the specific requirements of big brand name shoes producers in the world. Semasi’s customers include such brand names as Rockport, Lacoste, Dockers, Camel Active, Hush Puppies, Lloyd, Kickers, Dr. Martens, Sperry Top Sider, Mephisto, Pirelli, Ben Shermans, Sledgers, Johnston and Murphy and others.

Part of Semasi’s production is supplied domestically under it’s own brand name, Gino Mariani. Semasi shoes products are targeted to the high end quality segment and are considered to match the quality of Italian shoe manufacturers.

A strategy of quality combined with pricing and timely delivery has been the foundation of Semasi’s success in the highly competitive international shoes market. Expansion plans include the strategy to increase it’s penetration of the Indonesian domestic market through it’s own legal brand.
